the new road

tis a new day today,  this day that is now, that is this morn
tis a new world i behold, a day when none seem forlorn
this breeze that blows over, pushing a new awake soul
is a new being too, who bears with him promises whole

i take a new road now, the open highway, not of a city
not of a country, not of a race, the long path with no pity
there are no avenues here, no destinations, no crossroads
i am no hitchhiker, my chariot rages and bears all loads

i carry no chains from my past, i paint no pictures alike
i have burned the cloaks that shrouded me, stabbed a pike
for this journey can carry none that is grey, none that rust
for those horses rage only but ahead, level roads, raise dust

this road accepts me, for who i am, for what i shall be
she cares not of my triumphs, she reminds not my defeats
this road is my companion true, she does not end her stay
this road points only in a direction one, thats ahead and away
